History, Churches, Nature & Culture in Omo Valley
Day1: Arrive Addis Ababa, transfer to hotel. Balance of the day, city tour of the capital, this includes National museum where Lucy, an oldest hominid fossil, 3.2myrs old is sheltered, Mount Entoto, Trinity Cathedral, St. George Cathedral, Markato, the biggest open-air market in Africa and more. Over night hotel.
Day2: Addis Ababa-Bahirdar– after an early breakfast, fly to Bahirdar and check-in to hotel. Then drive to Blue Nile falls where it is located some 35kms south of the town. Walk for 1 hour/ way to the falls and return back to hotel for lunch. In the after noon, Boat trip over lake Tana to the island monasteries of Ura Kidanemihiret, Azua Mariam, Kiburan Gebriel (men monastery) and Entos Eyesus (women Monastery) then cruise back to hotel via the out let of the Blue Nile river. Over night hotel.
Day3: Bahirdar- Gondar– Drive to Gondar through a wonderful landscape crossing the villages of Amhara people and visit; the Royal enclosure of King Fasiledes, his Bath/ swimming pool and Debrebirhan Sillasie church. Over night hotel.
Day4: Gondar– Full day in Gondar. After an early breakfast, drive to the Simen mountains NP for a day trip to see one of the spectacular landscapes in Ethiopia. The park shelters the maximum number of endemic wild life’s in the country such as Gelada Baboons, Ethiopian wolf, Walya Ibex and 1st highest peak in Ethiopia and the 3rd highest in Africa mount, Ras Dashen rising 4543masl. Lunch, picnic in the park and drive back to Gondar via the Fellasha village where Ethiopian Jewish used to live until 1991. Over night hotel.
Day5: Semien Mountains-Aksum- after an early breakfast and more viewing in the Simen, proceeds to Axum via the scenic beauty of Limalimo hills and Tekeze river valley. O/n hotel.
Day6: Lalibela-Aksum– fly from Lalibebla to Aksum then visit the stele park, the tomb of king kaleb and G/ Meskel, the bath of queen of Sheba and her ruin palace, the church of St. Mary of Zion, where the original Ark of the Covenant in which Moses received on mount Sinai believed to have rested in a small chapel and Ezana’s stone inscription. Over night hotel.
Day7: Aksum-Addis Ababa- Awash. Fly back to Addis Ababa and then drive to Awash National park. Over night hotel or lodge.
Day8: Awash-Langano– in the morning game drive in Awash park to see Bisa Oryx, lesser Kudu, Sommering Gazelles and birds like, the endemic Abyssinian Roller, Abyssinian ground hornbill, Kori Bustards, secretary birds and the Awash River falls. Then head to Langano following the Rift valley system. Lunch On the way then visit Abijata Shalla lakes NP. Over night lodge.
Day9: – Langano- Arbaminch – Drive to Arbaminch using well-asphalted road then stop for lunch in Sodo town. After lunch, proceed to Chencha village via lake Abaya to visit the Dorzie people known for their weaving craft and special house construction. Over night hotel or Lodge.
Day10: Arbaminch– full day in Arbaminch with a visit of morning, game drive in Nechisar NP to see Verchile’s Zebra, grater kudu, Buffalo (if lucky) and other birds such as Kori bustard, Francolin, Guinea foul etc. In the after noon, boat trip over lake Chamo to see the biggest African crocodiles, herds of Hippopotamus by the side of the lake and other water birds such as pelicans, greater and lesser egrets etc. Over night hotel or lodge.
Day11: Arbaminch- Jinka– After an early breakfast, drive to Jinka with a stop in Konso village where the Konso tribes are living, here visit their labyrinthine villages with typical grass thatched houses as well as their terrace works. Have Lunch in Woito village. After lunch drive to Key After (Thursday market) where we could see the Hammer, Bena, Tsemay and Ari tribes are meet each other and shop their commodities then precede to Jinka. Over night hotel or lodge.
Day12: Jinka-Mursi village-Turmi-. Early morning, drive to Mursi village through Mago National park and visit the Mursi tribes who are mainly known for their unique culture of clay lip -plate insertion and the stick fighting ceremony known as Donga. Here, you enjoy photographing, experience and share their way of life. Finally, return back to Jinka for lunch. In the after noon, drive to Turmi for 2 nights. Over night lodge.
Day13: Turmi – full day in Turmi with an excursion to the Karo village as to see the Karo people who are living by the bank of the Omo River. They are mainly known by their body paintings and scarifications for their personal beauty. After some time in Karo village return to hotel for lunch. In the after noon, drive to Dimeka market to visit the Hammer, Karo and Dassanech tribes while shopping their commodities. Return to Turmi and visit one of the Hammer villages or (if available), attend the Bull jumping ceremony and Evangadi dance of the Hammer people). Over night Lodge.
Day14: Turmi– Arbamich – Enjoy breakfast early in the morning and drive to Arbaminch hrough the village of Erbore people who have some cultural shares with the Hammer, Tsemay, Bena and Oromo tribes. Have lunch -box at Woito village then head to Arbaminch via Konso, Derashe and Gamo villages. Over night hotel or Lodge.

Day15: Arbaminch -Addis Ababa– This day a long drive to Addis Ababa through Wolaita and Butajira towns. Day use room in Addis Ababa, then attend get together dinner party at Yod Abyssinia traditional restaurant. Transfer to Bole international airport for your departure home. End of the Tour.
