Combined Tours of Culture & History
Day1: Addis Ababa- Met by our staff member and transfer to hotel. Balance of the day site seeing in the capital and visit mount Entoto with a commanding view over to the town, church of St Mary, Entoto museum with a collection of royal objects and the grass thatched roof palace of king Menilk the 2nd of Ethiopia. Then back to the city for an extra visit of the National museum, Markato and so on. Over night hotel.
Day2: Addis Ababa-Bahirdar- fly to Bahirdar and do boating on lake Tana to the Peninsula and island monasteries of Urakidane Mehret, Mahal zeghie Gyorgis, Azua Mariam, Narga Sellasie, Kibran Gebriel and more. Afternoon drive to Blue Nile falls about 35ks south of Bahirdar. On return to Bahirdar do lakeside walking on lake Tana and more sightseeing of the town like visiting local basketry market. Over night hotel.
Day3: Bahirdar-Gondar- Drives to Gondar. In afternoon visit the royal compound where about 6 castles and other ruins of palaces are still standing, Debrebirhan Sillasie church and the bath of king Fasilledious.
Day4: Gondar-Simen mountain-Gondar- takes breakfast then drive to Simen Mountains NP for a day trip. Walk around in the park that has magnificent views and stunning landscape. Enjoy with the endemic Gelada baboon living on the cliffs and escarpments. After picnic lunch in the park, drive back to Gondar with stop over at the Fellasha village where Ethiopian Jewish used to live before they were airlifted to Israel in 1990 and on wards. Over night hotel.
Day5: Gondar-Lalibella– After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Lalibella. Baflane of the day visit the 1st group of churches such as- Bete Medihanialem (the house of the saver of the world), Bete Mariam (the house of St. Mary), Bete Meskel (the house of the cross), Bete Denagil (the house of the Virgin martyrs), Bete Golegotha-Micheal (the house of Goleotha and St. Michael and Bete Giorgis (the house of St. George. Over night hotel.
Day6: Lalibela- all day in Lalibela with Mule trekking to Asheton Mariam church or day trip to Yimrehane Kirstos monastery. In the afternoon more, visit of the 2nd group of rock hewn churches in Lalebela such as- Bete Gabriel-Raphael/ the house of St. Gabriel and Raphael; Bete Emanuel/ the house of Emanuel; Bete Merkorious/ the house of Merkorew and Bete Libanos/ the house of father Libanos. Over night hotel.
Day7: Lalibela-Diredawa-Harar- early checks out then flies to Addis Ababa connecting with the flight to Diredawa. On arrival more, drive to Harar with stops at some Cat/chat market places. Balance of the day; visit Hara city and its surroundings, like museums, market places, Harari private houses and more. Early evening goes out of the city to entertain with Hyena man show. Over night hotel.
Day8: Harar- Dire Dawa Arbaminch- Drive to Dire Dawa then you fly back to Addis Ababa to connect with Arbaminch. as soon as arrivwal in Arbaminc direct drive to Chencha village to see the Dorze people and their beautiful homesteads. Over night hotel or lodge.
Day9: – Arbaminch-Jinka- checks out hotel then drive to lake Chamo for boating to see African crocodiles and Hippos. Proceed to Konso village for lunch and the colorful Thursday at Keyafer. Over night hotel.
Day10: Jinka-Turmi– after an early breakfast drives to Mursi village through Mago NP where the Mursi people are living in different villages. The Mursi tribes are one of the most cultured people in Omo valley region women are known for lip-plate insertion that is a sigh of beauty and social status. Meaning the bigger lip plate, a woman has the most beautiful and respected one among their clan. Then back to Jinka for lunch. In the afternoon, proceed to Turmi village with stops at any available market places on the way. Over night lodge.
Day11: Turmi– whole day Turmi with day trip to Koricho village to visit the Karo/Kara people living by the bank of Omo River. The Karo people are the smallest ethnic group in Omo valley with a number of not more than 1000-1500 heads. They are known for body painting and scarification using different types of soil and sharp blades. Like their neighboring Hamer people, they also practice ritual ceremony of Bull jumping to confirm the passage of young boys to adult hood. Back to Turmi for lunch, then drive to Dimeka market if Saturday to see the Hamers, Karo and Dassenche people shopping together. Optional-if available attending at Bull jumping ceremony then late afternoon, walk around in the villages of the Hamer people, watch their Evangadi dance and other activities. Over night lodge.
Day12: Turmi-Konso- after an early breakfast goes to Dassenche village about 80ks from Turmi. Cross the Omo river using wooden boat and reach to their village. Visit their simple houses and enjoy beautiful group dances of them then back to Turmi for quick lunch. Proceed to Konso village with a stop at Erbore village form which women are known for bead works adornment. Over night lodge.
Day13: Konso-Arbaminch– in the morning visits the beautiful Konso village and their way of life then drive to Arbaminch, after lunch the transfer to airport for the flight to Addis Ababa. Balance of the day, do more activities in Addis Ababa then farewell dinner at traditional restaurant with local dishes and live folkloristic dances. Drop off at airport for your departure home. End of our service. End of the tour.
